I was born and raised on a small island just off the south coast of England called the Isle of Wight. In 1988, I completed a 3-year college course where I became an International Health and Beauty Council and City and Guilds of London Esthetician and Massage Therapist. After working in several salons in England, I was offered a position with Steiner's Maritime, an English spa company that has the concession on several cruise ships.
I spent 3 years with Steiner's on 4 different cruise ships, including the flag ship of Cunard, the Queen Elizabeth II. I sailed to various ports as an onboard Massage Therapist and Esthetician. Working with Steiner's enabled me to gain experience in some of the finest spa and body treatment facilities available at that time.
After leaving Steiner's, I settled in Dallas, Texas where I worked for a well-known salon and day spa called L'Image in Highland Park Village. At L'Image, I built up a very exclusive and international clientele. From there, my next position was as a salon manager for an exclusive skin care and body treatment salon.
I left Texas and moved to Dayton in 1996, where I decided on a career change. I went to school and became a State of Ohio Certified and Nationally Registered Paramedic. I also obtained a State of Ohio Professional Fire Fighter certification. I have spent the past 9 years as a Paramedic with the Butler Township Fire Department before leaving in March of 2006.
In 2000 I decided I wanted to return to my massage therapy roots with the goal of having my own Practice. I enrolled into the SHI North Dayton campus for Massage Therapy as my previous schooling and education would not reciprocate in the State of Ohio. SHI provided excellent instructors and tuition in the practical and theoretical side of Massage and an in depth study of anatomy and physiology. This served to truly enhance my clinical knowledge and massage skills. After successfully completing my training, I sat for the State of Ohio Medical Board Exam in June of 2002. I passed the exam and opened up Hanley House Massage in July 2002.
All of my Clients undergo a detailed Medical History evaluation on their first visit to Hanley House Massage. This allows me to evaluate problem areas and identify any contraindications that might prevent me from massaging.
My Massage sessions go according to your specific body needs or requirements. I incorporate Swedish, Deep Tissue, Muscle Energy Techniques, Crainosacral and Myoneural massage techniques. I am certified in Pre & Perinatal "Pregnancy" massage and Thai Massage. All of my massages are done in a pleasing environment with soothing light and soft background music. Even this setting can be tailored to your specific needs.
My goal is to offer my clients a unique professional massage therapy treatment in a relaxing, private and esthetic environment, catering to your individual and specific needs. Having been involved in massage in various parts of the world, I feel that I have found the perfect combination of environment and treatment that each individual will find pleasing and rewarding both physically and mentally. I look forward to seeing you.
Warmest regards,
Zoë
